Senior Business Development Manager

ABOUT THE JOB

As the first Senior Business Development Manager at Flatirons, a growing and cutting-edge software development consultancy, you will have a pivotal role in driving our growth strategy. You will lead efforts to identify and secure new business opportunities and establish strategic partnerships, with an emphasis on the healthcare, enterprise software development, and artificial intelligence sectors.

This position is key to building and shaping our business development function from the ground up. You'll set the standards for how we grow our client base and execute initiatives to close high-value contracts. You will collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to make a significant impact on the future of Flatirons. This is a key role with a lot of growth opportunities as the company hopes to grow the business development arm of the business over the coming years.

This is largely a remote position, however we will expect you to be in-person in our Boulder, CO office on an occasional basis.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, particularly in the healthcare and software development sectors.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive revenue growth.
  • Leading the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing high-value contracts (the generation of high-value, qualified leads is the most important aspect)
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams to align business development efforts with client needs and project goals.
  • Establishing best practices and setting the foundation for Flatirons’ business development function, which we are hoping to grow over the next several years.
  • Attending industry events, conferences, and meetings to expand our network and identify strategic opportunities for growth.
  • Providing strategic insights to leadership on market trends, competitor activity, and potential areas for expansion.

ABOUT YOU

  • You are based in the United States and have a proven track record in selling IT consulting or software development services.
  • You have 7+ years of experience in business development, with a focus on selling high-value services.
  • You have a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and how to communicate its value to potential clients, particularly in the healthcare sector.
  • You are skilled at building long-term client relationships and have a network that you can leverage to drive new business.
  • You’re a strategic thinker with hands-on experience, able to both set high-level goals and execute on them.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and have the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions.
  • You’re self-motivated, proactive, and excited about building out the business development function at Flatirons from the ground up.
